Additional Property Attributes

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment is completing a Phase I Brownfields Targeted Assessment (BTA) at the Hi-Lo Industries property located at 600 N. Central in Chanute, KS. The BTA is being conducted for the city of Chanute on behalf of James Caldwell who intends to sell the property. The potential buyer intends to renovate the property for industrial use. Currently, the application has been approved and letter mailed. The Phase I BTA did not identify any evidence of Recognized Environmental Conditions in connection with this site. The contractor, GSI, recommended no further investigation is needed. Based on the information collected during the Phase I report, no �Recognized Environmental Conditions� (RECs) were identified and the property is hereby cleared for redevelopment.

Former Use: The site has historically operated as a furniture and upholstery manufacturer for Recreational Vehicles ("RVs") from 1978 to 2014 . Since 2014 the site was the Guffey Body Shop and Used Car site. Currently the property contains two large metal buildings that are currently vacant.
