Additional Property Attributes

The Site is abandoned two-story building with UST. The Yankton Sioux Tribe would like to rehabilitate the existing building on the property to provide a shelter for homeless members of the community. No soil or groundwater contamination was identified at the Site associated with the UST that is no longer in use. Significant amounts of asbestos-containing material (ACM), lead-based paint (LBP), and mold were identified in the building.

ASTM E1903-19 Phase II Environmental Site Assessments. Scope included a Hazardous Building Materials survey was conducted which includes sampling of ACM for PLM along with a LBP screening, and soil sampling based on building exterior LBP readings.

Former Use: Built in 1957, the site was a convent until 1982 when the building was converted to administration offices for the tribe. The Site became vacant after it was flooded in 2010. The land is owned by BIA and the building is owned by the Tribe.
