Additional Property Attributes

Former Use: The site is currently a forested lot to the northwest of Holly Springs, Mississippi. The property is 76.5 acres in size in a rectangular shape. The property is separated into two sections by east-west railroad tracks with the northern portion accessible via Landfill Road to the north and the southern portion accessible via Highway 178 from the south. The property is located in an agricultural and undeveloped area of Holly Springs, Mississippi and has been owned by the Howell family for over 70 years. Available historical resources dating back to at least 19453 show the majority of the subject property was forested landas part of a wooded lot. The southeastern portion of the property was used as a clay mine from at least 1963 to 1977 as part of a larger clay mine operated by a local brick manufacturing company on the adjoining property to the east. The former onsite clay mine is now an approximately 5,000-square foot area of exposed limestone that has no observable or anecdotal evidence of dumping or other use.
