Additional Property Attributes

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment is completing a Phase I Brownfields Targeted Assessment (BTA) at the City of Fort Scott property located at 120 S. Main St. in Fort Scott, KS. The BTA is being conducted for the City of Fort Scot, acting on behalf of Sue Darling, who intendeds to use the property as an applicance repair shop with apartment space on the second floor. Currently, the application has been approved and letter mailed. Ollson Associates completed a Phase I ESA on the property listed above. There were no recognized environmental conditions (RECs) identified from reviews of historic records, regulatory databases, the site reconnaissance or interviews. It should be noted that areas potentially containing mold were observed in several locations throughout the building. Althought mold does represent a REC, it is recommended that a mold survey be conducted prior to redevelopment of the property. Based on the Phase I report, no Recognized Environmental Conditions (RECs) were identified at the subject property. No further investigation is needed through the Brownfields Program and the property is cleared for redevelopment.
