Additional Property Attributes

Environmental assessment indicated that there may potentially be contaminants on site. Additional sampling and analysis is need to determine if there are any environmental impacts and health concerns. Former Use: The property was used as a flour mill from its construction in 1881 until 2005 when most operations moved to another mill. The building was used minimally (for storage) until 2020. The building is on the National Register of Historic Places.
Property abated and renovated into four two-bedroom apartments and over 2,000 square feet of commercial space. Developer reincorporated building materials throughout the renovation to maintain the original buildings historic charm. For example lumber from wooden grain bins was used to repurpose staircases and railings and front of breakfast bars in the apartments. Project received Workforce Housing Tax Credits and Redevelopment Tax Credits as well as TIF from city of Maquoketa. In July 2022 parcel was split into two parcels and one parcel sold to another developer who renovated the metal shed for commercial use into a Cross Fit gym. Gym is located at 118 E Pleasant (New parcel #s: 145181930105200 [118 E Pleasant St] & 145181930105300 [120 E Pleasant St])
