Additional Property Attributes

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment is completing a Phase I Brownfields Targeted Assessment (BTA) at the Kingman Community Hospital property located at 750 W D Avenue in Kingman, Kansas. The BTA is being conducted for the Ninnecah Valley Health Systems, Non-Profit organization, who intends to renovate the building for continued use as a hospital. A Phase I BTA was completed in August 2016 and it concluded that no recognized environmental conditions (RECs) existed. It was noted that due to the age of the building, lead based paint was likely used during the original construction of the hospital. However, during the assessment visual evidence of suspect LBP was not observed. There was also no visual evidence of mold or mold damage in the interior areas inspected. The ACM report had one positive sample containing asbestos, it was black mastic under floor tile. Abatement of this ACM will likely be required prior to renovation and/or demolition activities. Notification to consult the KDHE Asbestos Control Section was suggested. No further investigation is needed through the Brownfields Program and the property is cleared for redevelopment.
