The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) conducted a Phase I Brownfields Targeted Assessment (BTA) at the 18 above referenced properties in Ottawa, Kansas. The BTA was conducted for City of Ottawa, who currently owns the property and intends to reuse the property for residential use. Based on the Phase I report, no "Recognized Environmental Conditions" (RECs) were identified and the property is cleared for redevelopment.

Former Use: The subject property is located in Ottawa, Franklin County, Kansas, north of West 17th Street surrounding Easy Street. The entire property, comprised of eighteen (18) parcels, (BTA #1 through #17) is approximately 8.02 acres of vacant land in an area of residential properties, and generally slopes to the northeast. The property has been undeveloped land since approximately 1956, according to historical documentation. The land has been owned by private individuals and commercial businesses since 1937. The City of Ottawa purchased the property on 06/02/2014 from Wayde L.C.
