Additional Property Attributes

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment received a Brownfields application from the City of Burrton for their property located at 118 N. Burrton Ave. in Burrton, KS. They requested a Phase I BTA with asbestos and lead based paint surveys for a commercial redevelopment project. The application was approved on 5/1/2017. The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) completed a Phase I Brownfields Targeted Assessment (BTA) at the above referenced property in Burrton, Kansas. Based on the Phase I report, no Recognized Environmental Conditions (RECs) were identified at the property. No further investigation is needed through the Brownfields Program and the property is cleared for redevelopment. A NESHAP Asbestos, Lead-Based Paint and Mold Survey was also conducted on the site. Asbestos containing materials were identified at the site. Asbestos containing materials were identified in some areas of the building. Asbestos was identified as 25 square feet (sf) of white vinyl (8% chrysotile) and 25 square feet of red vinyl (15% chrysotile). Abatement of these ACMs will likely be required prior to redevelopment. Lead based paint tests were also performed with no samples returning as positive.
