Additional Property Attributes

Site formerly part of an adjacent bulk oil facility but is currently vacant. Phase II ESA indicated no petroleum contamination was present and the Site is ready for development once the adjacent parcels are acquired.

Former Use: The site operated as a Marathon Bulk Petroleum site from the mid 1940s. In 1971 the business was acquired by Fred Trimble and was renamed Trimble Oil Company. The Trimble family operated business until the mid 2000s when it was acquired by Harvest Land Cooperative. At some point in the past, the parcel owned by the City of Elwood, which was part of the Trimble Oil Company business was separated from the Trimble Oil parcel where the bulk petroleum operations occurred. The City of Elwood owned parcel was bought and sold at multiple tax sales, until the City of Elwood acquired the property from Madison County through the tax delinquency process in 2013.
