Additional Property Attributes

Former Use: The property was previously privately owned consisting of an approximate 2,002 square foot, commercial building situated on approximately 0.18 acres of land. The original structure located on the property was constructed circa 1954. Railroad tracks have been located to the north of the property from circa 1891 to present day. Six parcels including this site were replatted and became part of the Twin Steeples Landing area of downtown Dyersville. The subject property site was combined with an additional 0.37 acres and will provide an entrance/exit streets to the new Twin Steeples Landing area. An environmental assessment found asbestos in the building on this site. It was abated and demolished in 2018. Other contaminants detected were below levels of concern based on reuse of the site for city infrastructure. Site was cleaned up and no further clean up action is needed at this time. The site was deemed ready for reuse. Over 13,000 cu yards were brought in to raise the area above flood plain. This property was developed with new street and sewer improvements along with a retaining wall and is the entrance/exit to the newly platted Twin Steeples Landing area. The Twin Steeples Landing provides access via a walking path and kayak launch area to the North Fork Maquoketa River. Twin Steeples The Landing was developed and includes all new infrastructure, commercial building, retail building, parking, and North Fork Maquoketa River entrance. Project completed 2021.
