Former Use: The site is made up of two buildings connected via a walkway: the original St. Josephs Manor and the newer hospital addition. The St. Josephs manor side of the building was constructed in 1932 as Colonial Farms chicken hatchery and operated until 1948 when it was given to Holy Cross Abbey and Benedictine Order for conversion into a hospital. In 1967 a second hospital wing was added (where current city offices now sit). Financial troubles resulted in conversion to a long term nursing home in 1984 and the entire facility was closed in 2003. In 2005/6 the City relocated offices to the newer (1967) wing and closed the 1932 wing. The newer wing houses city functions: city council chambers, police, all city departments, state patrol office, and other limited rentable space. The original 1932 building is currently vacant.
