Additional Property Attributes

The Property consists of an irregularly-shaped parcel of land encompassing 0.3600-acres. The Property is located at the southeast corner of the intersection of East Fairchild Street and North Vermilion Street. There is a potential for a release of petroleum to have occurred as a result of the former filling station identified at the Property, in operation for approximately 15-years and involving several underground storage tanks (USTs) that were reportedly abandoned in place in 1974. Currently owned by First Farmers Bank & Trust.

Initial Phase II ESA work completed in January and February 2021, partially funded by Brownfields Assessment grant and partially by the City of Danville. The Phase II ESA found petroleum contamination in form of naphthalene and BTEX. Chlorinated solvents were identified along the southern boundary, adjacent to the former Fonner's Cleaners site at 817 North Vermilion Street. Supplemental Phase II ESA work was completed in March 2022, led and funded by the City of Danville to further investigation soil and groundwater contamination. The site has been enrolled into the IEPA SRP with the former Fonner's Cleaners site and 815 North Vermilion. SRP enrollment and Site Investigation report submitted in July 2022.
