Additional Property Attributes

The Property consists of one parcel totaling 0.93 acres of land in Syracuse, New York located off an unpaved paper street known as Greenway Avenue and north of Lynch Avenue. The Property is accessible through the City of Syracuse composting site located at 100 City Crossroads Drive. At the time of the site visit the City of Syracuse was using the Property for temporary storage of construction & demolition (C&D) material and waste tires. The Property is mostly unpaved vacant land other than concrete block bunkers used for C&D and waste tire storage and a concrete pad/paved area which is suspected to be related to a former building. The Property is located in a predominantly commercial/industrial neighborhood.
Based on the historical records review, the Property was developed in approximately 1951 and 1953 with a first aid building, two 42,000 gallon oil tanks and a portion of two 12,000 gallon oil tanks related to Globe Forge Inc. operations on the adjacent parcel north and east of the Property. There are no indications of tanks on the Property after 1953. The building remained on the Property until at least 1995. According to the City Directory search, the site was occupied by Moshannon Mining Co. in 1983 and Economy Collision in 1995. Auto repair shops typically use and store hazardous materials and petroleum products. The Property has reportedly been used by the City of Syracuse for temporary C&D and waste tire storage since the 2000s.
The Property is located adjacent to two New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) remediation sites; the former Winkelman Property is located west of the Property and the City Compost Facility (known as the Former Syracuse Rigging Co.) is located north and east.
