Additional Property Attributes

The following findings were noted in the Phase I report: A 5-gallon drum containing an unknown substance was found onsite. Former drycleaners, service stations, and underground storage tank sites were located near the subject site. A 1941 photograph in the Phase I report identified a railroad adjacent to the east of the site. The subject site once operated as a drycleaner, as well as an auto supply store. During the asbestos survey, asbestos-containing material (ACM) was determined to be present in pipe wrap in the basement. During the lead-based paint inspection, LBP was noted on several components within the building. Electrical ballasts for fluorescent lights were noted in the building. These ballasts may contain polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs).

A Phase II was conducted. Arsenic and lead were found in the surficial soil at concentrations above the Department's Default Target Levels (DTLs). Arsenic and Barium were found in the subsurface soil above the DTLs. Polynuclear aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) were found in the groundwater above the Residential Risk-Based Target Levels for the ingestion pathway. Although the arsenic and lead are above the DTLs in the surficial soil, they are below the normal background level for St. Louis City, so no further investigation of the surficial soil is recommended. Due to the depth of the arsenic and barium contamination in the subsurface soil, the exposure pathway is considered incomplete, so no further investigation of the subsurface soil is recommended. The ingestion pathway for the groundwater is considered incomplete, so no further investigation into the PAH contamination is recommended.
