Addl Cleanup/Treatment info: Minor soil staining was observed within the excavation footprint for UST-1. One soil sample indicated a concentration of TPH-DRO at above NCDEQ action level, while another soil sample from the site did not indicate TPH-DRO above action level. The heat oil UST was a non-regulation, non-commercial tank based on the capacity being less than 1000 gallons. No further action is needed unless specifically directed by NCDEQ based upon risk. Environmental consultant indicated that the site is considered low risk and no further action is recommended.

Additional Property Attributes

The Site is identified as the Former Gibbons Electric and
consists of two parcels totaling 0.23 acres. The property was purchased with intentions of
completing a rehabilitation and expansion to accommodate a Latino non-profit organization and
provide for additional local businesses as tenants. One UST was identified during the purchase
of the property which was properly abandoned and closed-in-place. Two additional USTs, both
likely used for heating oil, were identified during renovation activities. The discovery of the USTs
put the revitalization project in jeopardy due to the unanticipated financial cost of addressing
these tanks.
