Additional Property Attributes

The original Site building on the west parcel was erected circa 1896 for use as a residence and was converted into a welding supply warehouse by 1960. The original building was added onto through the 1960s and 1970s, to total approximately 14,922 square feet. Subsequent buildings containing 1,344 and 1,500 square feet were constructed on the west parcel around 1968 and 1979, respectively. Acetylene gas for welding was manufactured at the Site until 1986. The Site building on the central parcel was constructed around 2002. A lumber yard and planing mill was operated on the central parcel from at least 1890 through the early 1960s. A machine shop and auto parts supply store were also present on the central parcel from the early 1960s through the early 1980s. Nowak expanded from the west and began operating on the central parcel in the mid 1980s. The former machine shop and auto parts buildings were replaced by a new building around 2002. A steam laundry facility was operated on the east parcel in 1890, followed by a rug weaving factory from around 1900 to the early 1920s, and then a bakery in the late 1920s. The east parcel appears to have been vacant during the 1930s with a filling station being operated in the 1940s through the early 1950s. The former building on the east parcel was listed as an office in the 1963 and 1972 fire insurance map review and a sewing business operated out of the former filling station building in the 1980s and 1990s. The building was removed in the mid-2000s.
