Additional Property Attributes

The Subject Property consists of two (2) parcels of land that total approximately 6.01 acres located north of I-85 interchange with Oine Road in Norlina, Warren County, NC. The properties are currently owned by Clifton & Jeanett McClanahan, and were historically owned by American Oil Company. The southern parcel of approximately 1.49 acres historically operated as a filling station between 1968 and 1998. The structure has since been demolished. The northern parcel of approximately 4.52 acres appears to have remained wooded and undeveloped through present day. A petroleum release discovered during UST removal activities in June 1999 resulted in LUST Incident #20651. The release resulted in soil and groundwater contamination. 331 tons of impacted soil was excavated and disposed of during UST closure activities. Assessment activities between 1999 and 2004, included five (5) groundwater monitoring wells. Several petroleum compounds detected above NC Groundwater Quality Standards (NCGQS). A Notice of Residual Petroleum (NORP) was filed with the Warren County Register of Deeds on March 16, 2004 which established a Land Use Restriction prohibiting groundwater use at the property. The property received No Further Action status in April 2004 for LUST Incident 20651. Current site conditions for the property include remaining concrete and asphalt paved areas. Future use of the property has not been determined at this time.
