Additional Property Attributes

This parcel was acquired by LRA via Tax Suit #132 on November 9, 2006. It is depicted on a Sanborn map as a bulk oil station with gasoline tanks. It is located in the 25th Ward. Historical documents list the site as having three tanks, from at least 1938 to 1951. The site has been vacant since at least 1955.

The site was a gas station, with three underground storage tanks, from at least 1938 through 1951. No records could be found indicating that the tanks have been removed.
Commercial buildings have been identified on adjacent properties dating back to 1938. These include a coal yard and a stove/heating equipment manufacturer. Additionally, a Missouri Pacific railroad corridor has bordered the site to the west since the 1930s.

Concentrations of naphthalene, arsenic, and lead in subsurface soil exceed the default target levels, but not the residential risk- based target levels. Concentrations of naphthalene, arsenic, and lead in the groundwater exceed the default target levels, however a Memorandum of Understanding between the City of St. Louis and the Missouri Department of Natural Resources prohibit the domestic use of groundwater. No further investigation is recommended.
