Additional Property Attributes

This site was acquired by LRA for CDA in 1993. It is zoned B - Two family residential, and is located in the 25th Ward. The site housed a filling station from approximately 1938 to 1994. The onsite building was demolished in 1994 and the site has been a parking lot since 1995. The site is known in the Underground Storage Tanks database as ST7282, with a release file of R4596. Four tanks were removed in 1993. Initial sampling revealed benzene in the soil and groundwater above DTLs, but the site was never fully characterized. As such, it did not receive "No Further Action" status, however it was administratively closed by the Tanks Section 6/12/08.

The site was a gas station from at least 1938 through 1994. Four underground storage tanks were removed in 1993, and though no sampling was conducted at that time, followup sampling occurred in 1994 and 1995. Initial soil and groundwater samples indicated contamination in excess of the Department's Default Target Levels and Risk-Based Target Levels for residential land use. Characterization of the extent of the contamination was never conducted. Consequently, the Department's Underground Storage Tanks Section did not issue a "No Further Action" letter, but rather administratively closed the site.

1,2-dibromomethane and lead in the soil exceed the Department's default target levels, but not residential risk-based target levels. Methyl tert-butyl ether and naphthalene in the groundwater exceed the default target levels, however a Memorandum of Understanding between the City of St. Louis and the Department prohibits the domestic use of groundwater. No further investigation is recommended.
