Additional Property Attributes

This site was acquired by the LRA via Tax suite #138 on November 29, 2007. It is zoned F - Neighborhood Commercial and is located in the 27th Ward. The site was a filling station from at least the 1930s through 1980, though the exact time is unknown. According to local records, the filling station building was demolished in 2004. Sanborn maps from 1931 to 1951 show up to three underground storage tanks were located on the site. The site was a gas station, with up to three underground gasoline storage tanks, from at least the 1930s through 1995. There are no records the tanks were ever removed. A filling station, with two underground gasoline storage tanks, was formerly located on the adjacent property to the southeast in the 1930s and 1950. The concentrations of benzene, naphthalene and lead in the subsurface soil exceed the Department's default target levels (DTLs), but not the Tier I Risk-Based Target Levels (RBTLs), for residential land use. The concentration of total petroleum hydrocarbons - gasoline range organics in the subsurface soil exceeds the residential RBTL for the indoor air inhalation pathway. The concentrations of benzene, naphthalene and lead in the groundwater exceed the DTLs; however, a memorandum of agreement between the Department and the City of St. Louis prohibits the domestic use of groundwater. Due to the exceedance of TPH-GRO in the soil, further investigation is warranted.
