Additional Property Attributes

The subject property consists of two vacant parcels with an estimated combined area of 1.2-acres at approximately 9,276 feet above mean sea level. Regarding the investigation and clean-up of the Rose and Walsh Smelter to the west of the subject property, knowledge of suspected lead and arsenic contamination in the soil of the subject property was confirmed during the Phase II ESA activities. Samples from the property (designated for future residential use), detected antimony, arsenic, cobalt, iron, lead, and manganese at concentrations above the EPA residential RSLs. Arsenic was detected in all 7 grids and soil depth intervals down to 8 feet below ground surface. Lead was detected in all 7 surface grids and half of the subsurface samples. START recommends developing a materials management plan for proper handling, storage, and disposal of slag and soil affected by high concentrations of lead and arsenic.
