Property Highlights

A single residence has been identified by the Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribe for a Phase II environmental site assessment.
-Residential property identified as abandoned, past use as a residence. Excessive solid waste accumulation has occurred, and the property is known to have been occupied for drug use, including methamphetamine.
-One single family residence plus one small wooden shed and a wooden barn. Bags full of trash were observed in the shed and barn.
-Piles of solid waste, potential lead-based paint (LBP), potential Asbestos Containing Material (ACBM), appliances that may contain freon, hazardous materials containers, known methamphetamine use in residence, and animal droppings.
-The Tribe would like the current building demolished, all solid waste, and any contaminated soil removed so a new residence can be constructed.
-None of the suspect ACM samples detected concentrations of asbestos.
-Methamphetamine was detected on surfaces in the residential home. It is recommended to follow the EPA meth cleanup guidance and thoroughly clean all rooms where meth contamination was detected.
