Recommendations based on 2024 monitoring are to reduce the sampled wells to include only MW-1, 5, 12, 102, 110, and 200; to record water level measurements during both sampling events; and reduce metals analysis to only those metals that exceeded cleanup levels during monitoring periods (lead and arsenic).

Additional Property Attributes

During initial construction of the Inchelium Wood Treatment Plant (IWTP), rock spoils from the historic Ice Mine, which is located approximately five miles south of IWTP and the town of Inchelium, WA, were used as fill material. In 2004, soil sampling activities at the Ice Mine location indicated levels of arsenic, lead, copper, and chromium concentrations. Tribal representatives report soils form the Ice Mine may have impacted site soils and groundwater at the IWTP. On December 21, 2015, groundwater sampling activities took place on nine groundwater monitoring wells at IWTP, two of which were not sampled due to low groundwater and insufficient sample volume. All groundwater monitoring wells were in good condition and annual monitoring is recommended. Former Use: The property consists of 45 acres on the southwest side of Inchelium, WA., with approximately 15 acres occupied by buildings and equipment used to treat posts and poles. The subject property was converted from predominantly agricultural land use to a vehicle maintenance facility owned by Lincoln Lumber Company in the mid-1950s and later purchased by Boise Cascade Corporation. The Colville Confederated Tribes purchased the property in 1979, and it was reconstructed in 1985 to pressure-treat wood using chromated copper arsenic. Current use of portions of the site are for boat and vehicle storage/bullpen for Inchelium Fish and Wildlife.
