Property Highlights

The hotel and associated buildings have been demolished and removed. The Town is currently designing a municipal library to be constructed on the site.

Former Use: The Maplehurst Hotel was built in 1877, with additions in 1911 and 1919. It later became the Chase Golf and Tennis Camp. The camp was closed in the late 1980's, the building abandoned and eventually seized for non-payment of taxes in 1996. The Town of Bethlehem wants to sell the property for redevelopment. The site contains visible asbestos insulation associated with the heating system and some of the floor tiles. There was an on-site laundry in a separate building on the property, with possible bleach residue and leaking motors. There is an underground storage tank filler neck still in the ground and presumably the UST as well. Several abandoned vehicles were recently removed from the edge of the property with oil staining remaining.
