Additional Property Attributes

Former Use: The site consists of approximately 3.2 acres of land and is improved with two buildings on the east-central portion. Wells Street borders the site to the east, Ewing Street borders the site to the west, and the St. Mary's River is located along the south site boundary. The east portion of the site has consisted of commercial land since at least 1902. The west portion of the site was used for coal storage purposes from at least 1902 to 1968. A fuel/energy company occupied the site from at least 1931 to 1982, and the site was used as a stable from at least 1992 to 1997. The site was used by the City of Fort Wayne as a canine training center from 1997 to 2004. Site occupants have included Superior Coal Co. 1931-1946, Superior Fuel Co. 1952-1977, Superior Energy 1982, and Corban Carriage ? Hose Carriages 1992-1997. An underground gasoline storage tank was located near the east site boundary in 1918. The site operated as a bulk fuel storage facility from at least 1949 to 1968. Seven aboveground storage tanks were located along the south site boundary during this time.
