Additional Property Attributes

The site is part of a group of parcels purchase by the Hartford Woolen Mill Company in the late 1800s, and the building on the property was used as a store house for wool. The current owner purchased the property in 1992, after a limited subsurface investigation was performed and a Vermont DEC SMAC letter was issued. A railroad siding is present, suggesting that chemicals or petroleum products may be been off-loaded at the site for use at another parcel, offsite. Two USTs were removed approximately 50 years ago.

Former Use: Property is currently used for housing and artist studio space. Past uses were for a cotton factory (destroyed by fire), plaster grinding mill, chair factory, and the Hartford Woodlen Company. A portion of the building was destroyed by fire in 1976.
