Historical information identified the subject site located at the address formerly known as 108 Madison Avenue as a former auto repair facility. Based on the length of operation and the type of hazardous materials associated with auto repair activities including heavy metals, petroleum products, and solvents, the presence of this former auto repair facility represents a recognized environmental condition for the subject site. Additional investigation would be required to further evaluate this issue. Historical information identified the subject site located at 1507-1511 Market Street as a former auto salvage/junk yard. Based on the suspected length of operation and the type of hazardous materials associated with auto salvage/junk yards including heavy metals, petroleum products, and solvents, the presence of this former salvage/junk yard represents a recognized environmental condition for the subject site. Additional investigation would be required to further evaluate this issue.

Former Use: The subject site lies in a mixed residential/commercial area of Madison, Illinois. The subject site has been residentially developed since at least 1907. A portion of the site (formerly known as 108 Madison Ave.)was commercially developed by an auto repair facility and gasoline station as early as the 1940s. Another address, 1507-1511 Market Street, was formerly used as a auto salvage/junk yard.
