Former Use: The property is located in the historic downtown area of the city of Kilgore. The surrounding properties are mainly mixed commercial. The property houses the Texan Theatre. The three-story building was constructed in the 1930s as a movie theater and is currently unoccupied. Seating has been removed from the first floor viewing area, and the original sloped floor was remodeled into three tiers during the former theatre's use as a restaurant in the 1970s. The City of Kilgore currently uses the building as storage space. Exterior portions of the property, including the sidewalk and fa�e fronting South Kilgore Street, have been restored to their appearance during theater operation. The building occupies the entire property. Wide sidewalks separate the building from the street on three sides. Angled parking places are present in between the sidewalk and the building on South Kilgore and East South Streets. Exterior walls are constructed of fire bricks and finished with plaster on the interior. Interior walls are wood framed and finished with plaster in most locations. The ceiling is wood beam construction finished with cellulose ceiling tiles.
