The 85 acre Harrison Avenue Landfill operated from 1952-1971. The landfill was never properly closed and is at the confluence of two rivers. Investigation and cleanup are crucial for neighborhood revitalization (PPF - Harrison Avenue Landfill, 3/19/08). 120,000 ft2 Kroc Community Center on 24-acres portion of Harrison Ave Landfill, serves over 8000 residents
