Additional Property Attributes

The site is a former landfill and has been used for many years as residential. Site needed assessment to insure safe water supply. Wanted to make sure the creek is not effected. The 2015 Phase II ESA results found contamination in groundwater & soil vapors: Barium & Vinyl chloride were found above MT water quality standards Soil vapors exceeds bench marks that included Dichlorodifluoromethane, TCE, Tetrachloroethene, and Hydrocarbons. Five monitoring wells and eight soil vapor probes were installed and sampled during the Phase II ESA investigation in December 2014 and January 2015. Purposes of the wells and probes are to delineate location and extent of buried waste, and determine if contaminants (if any) from the waste may be migrating to drinking water, surface water, or indoor air. During drilling for the wells, soil samples were collected at the groundwater interface. Solvents, refrigerants, and petroleum constituents were identified in groundwater and soil gas. No assessment has been performed of soil gas or indoor air for the residence on the former landfill footprint.

Former Use: The site is located in the northeast quarter of Section 6, Township 20 North, Range 19 West. The site is currently owned by Ronald and Pat McCrea. Historically, the site was a gravel pit converted into a landfill for the City of Ronan. Currently, the site is occupied by two mobile homes and a variety of multi-purpose structures, including two former mink farm buildings. . 5.5 Acre site approx. 1.5 miles east of Ronan. Site was a city landfill and now is a residential site with several mobile homes. The site was initially a gravel pit that was converted into a landfill for the City of Ronan. At some point in the 1990's, the site was capped and closed without documentation of environmental conditions. Currently, the site is occupied by two mobile homes and multiple shed structures on top of the former landfill. The site is slightly elevated compared to the surrounding area and is vegetated.
