Additional Property Attributes

GPS: 62.68750000, -164.6683333. Survey 4405 Block 8, Lot 9 Tract B Survey 4405 Block 9, Lot 20 Tract B Area: 15000 ft^2 or around .3444 acres The property is 150 ft by 100 ft The site was a vacant property. The unidentified person began depositing old heavy equipment and then the community began dumping scrap there. Scrap means cars, tires, large empty fuel tanks, and heavy equipment-assessment requested by the village council and James Cook. The reuse plan for the area is to establish a place where hazardous materials and old equipment/cars can be collected, emptied, and safely stored until further shipment. Some of the equipment may also be recycled and reused. This will provide a job opportunity for somebody to maintain the transfer station, resulting in hazardous materials being properly disposed of to protect human health. Phase I Summary: Abandoned materials have accumulated in the boneyard for more than 40 years: primarily heavy equipment, vehicles, tanks, and drums. Materials are reported to be discarded "as-is" with no management of potentially hazardous substances. No evidence of reportable release or large-scale environmental contamination was identified during the site visit. Alakanuk Pass is actively eroding its southern bank towards the site.
