Additional Property Attributes

Former Use: The Property was developed with a building and associated sheds and was used as a commercial furniture store from at least 1884 through 1909 when a stable was added to the south portion of the Property. The stable was replaced by a garage used for the storage of automobiles and furniture by 1924. From 1924 to 2014 the Property was used as a furniture store, a hardware store, and a video store known as Video Dock. The Property appeared unoccupied from 2014 through 2016. At the time of the Phase I reconnaissance, the Property consisted of an approximately 0.2 acres of land developed with a vacant two-story building, a basement, and two single-story storage rooms attached to the southeast side of the building. The building was used to store furniture, shelving, and various household items. The remainder of the Property consisted of gravel- and grass-covered land. Two, metal groundwater monitoring well covers were identified in the east right-of-way of 2nd Street adjacent to the west Property boundary. The building was demolished in the fall of 2019. Surrounding areas consisted primarily of commercial and residential land until from 1884 through present. Several historical operations of environmental concern were identified on adjoining sites and/or in the surrounding area including a tin shop, a blacksmith, a gasoline filling station with underground storage tanks (USTs), an automobile repair operation, a harness, hides, and wool shop/warehouse, and a steam laundry (potential dry cleaning operation). Of these sites, Marty?s Automobile Care located on the west-adjoining site was identified as a known leaking underground storage tank (LUST) site.
