Additional Property Attributes

Former Use: The property has been vacant since 1995. The former HiG Company occupied the property from 1970 to 1995. HiG operated out of a 50,000 sf building that was constructed in 1969 at this industrial park location. Construction of a 59,000 sf two-story office addition was under way when the company closed in 1994. The facility had manufactured minature relays, timing and sensing devices and thick film circuits. Manufacturing processes included assembly, painting, degreasing, machining and plating. Wastes generated on-site included lead, copper, nickel, tin, carbon tetrachloride, sodium hydroxide, 1,1,1 trichloroethane, cyanide, hydrogen sulfide and hydrogen chloride. The CT DEP approved the installation of a wastewater treatment system and the discharge of treated waste water to the municipal sewage system in 1987. The Connecticut DEP conducted a Targeted Brownfield Site Assessment of the property in 2001 and 2002.
