The site was re-graded in order to stabilize the slopes and provide appropriate grading. The site was surfaced with non-woven geotextile fabric and then capped with one foot of imported fill material. Analytical testing was performed on the imported fill material. The remaining portion of the site was paved with a four-inch thickness of bituminous pavement over a minimum of six inches of gravel subbase material. A bituminous walking trail was constructed across the center of the property and picnic tables, benches, trees and interpretive signs were installed around the walking trail.

Additional Property Attributes

The property was a former mill building that was redeveloped into a public park.

Former Use: The site was historically occupied by Brookfield Mill from the 1890s until August 2000, when the mill building was destroyed by fire. Industrial operations at the former mill facility included paper coating, shoe manufacturing, plastic molding, charcol filter manufacturing, among other small businesses. Following the 2000 fire, the building remnants were razed and debris was reportedly used to fill the building basement. The Town of Brookfield acquired the site in 2003.
