Additional Property Attributes

Property is former industrial salvage yard along the Kishwaukee River. Planned land use is mixed commercial/residential with river walk access. Phase II activities include: QAPP,enrollment into Site Remediation Program, Sampling and Analysis Plan, initial site investigation, and Comprehensive Site Investigation and Remedial ives Report. Supplemental Activities include: a supplemental site investigation, IEPA response letters, tier 2 soil and groundwater modeling with surface water receptor evaluation. Cleanup Planning includes: Remedial Action Plan, ABCA and discussions with City and IEPA. Cleanup activities include removal of hazardous lead concentrations in soil and Remedial Action Completion Report. Planning for engineered barriers next.

Former Use: The site was owned and operated by Harris Silver and Sons as a metal scrap salvage yard for over fifty years. The City purchased the property in April 2007 after proper due diligence.
